About

Hello there! My name is Matilda. Some people also call me Matti and that’s how the name Miss Matti was born.

I am a 30something knitwear designer currently based in Canada. I live together with my husband in an apartment full of plants.
In the picture above I am enjoying the mountains in Jasper and one thing that always amazes me with living in Canada is the stunning nature this country has to offer.

I started to develop my passion for sustainable fashion whilst studying fashion design at London College of Fashion. However, after uni, I didn’t really know for a long time how to build a career where I could combine my passion for design, textile & business in a way that was aligned with my values.

Something with the state of the fashion industry just didn’t sit right with me (and still doesn’t) and as a result, I even doubted that fashion design was the right path for me.
However, I do know now that fashion design has always been the right path for me, but instead of accepting the current system, my goal is now to transform the fashion industry.

How it looks like for me is to bring back the maker community and teach people how you can make your own clothes from scratch as well as repair and/or upcycle things you already own. I do believe that when you know how things are made you will respect the clothes you own more – no matter if you bought them or made them yourself.

I also believe learning how to make things bring us more satisfaction and quality of life than just consuming things, which also helps us make more sustainable choices both for our wallet, our health and our planet.

Miss Matti actually used to be a knitted accessories brand in 2014 – 2015 and at the time I sold my products at Greenwich Market in London.
I loved to design the accessories and experiment with different knitting techniques on my knitting machine. However, I discovered after a while that I didn’t love making the same product over and over again.

My passion was and still is to design clothes & textiles and people really seemed to love my products. Which I why I will later in 2021 launch my own sewing & knit patterns.

If you do want to make sure to be the first to hear when these products are available to make sure you do subscribe to my newsletter.

If you love what I do please feel free to support me by buying me a coffee! ☕️ Your support is very much appreciated 🙏🏼 ✨ 💖

Lots of love,
