New project? How to Overcome the Fear of Getting Started

Do you have some really exciting ideas or projects you would like to start working on? Projects that you are really passionate about and really, really want to get out there in the world?

But, there is a big BUT… you cannot get started! The blank page, the white space, the empty word document or whatever it is… It just feels too scary! What are people gonna think about me? Will people like this? Can I even deliver the level of work that is expected of me? Will anyone even be willing to pay money for this?

These are examples of some thoughts that go through my head almost every time I get started on something new.. or rather, just before I actually get started on something new.
Mainly at this point, I am just staring at that blank page. The truth is the more you really want something the more resistance you will feel towards getting started. And that is a sign that you just have to get started.

Watch the video above to find out my 3 top tips on how to deal with the fear of the blank page and get started on your new exciting project.

What are your top tips on how to overcome the fear of getting started? What do you do to make the blank page less scary? I would love to hear from you – please leave a comment below!

PS: Would love to share some transparency here.. So the video above was the first video I edited myself (for at least 10 years or so.. last time was my first – and last? – attempt ever to make a clay figure animation). It was really scary to get started..!

I avoided it for like 6 days since I filmed it last Thursday… Until I just had to do it.

Then iMovie and I were not getting on very well… A lot of swear words and feelings of anger appeared.. Not very Success With Ease! In the end, we got on OK, and the video above was finally made into its final state above.

Now I am sharing the video with you, despite the video being far from perfect… I am not in a fancy studio-like Marie Forleo, with a team behind me or a video editing pro. But my message is more important – to get out to you! That is my final tip.. remember your message is more important than being perfect!

Actually talking about Marie Forleo – I absolutely love this video and I think you should check this one out too: Why It’s Smart To Start Small and/or Sucky
